<p>According to the study, weight loss programs which have an online component have been found to be more successful than programs which do not.</p>
<p>Researchers discovered that online weight-loss programs can help people lose an average of two more pounds compared with individuals who did not use the Web.</p>
<p>The Internet was used in different ways: individualized instruction, communication with lifestyle instructors, counselling and keeping a record of food intake. However, the scientists found that the best approach is when combining both Internet and more traditional in-person methods.</p>
<p>The study is published in the International Journal of Obesity.</p>

<p>Best Foods for Weight Loss:</p>

<p>Researchers analyzed data on the weight and eating and living habits of nearly 121,000 men and women. Participants were tracked every four years for 20 years. It was discovered that adults gain an average of almost a pound a year as they age.</p>
<p>They gained an average of 3.35 pounds over 4-year periods and almost 17 pounds over the two decades, says the study.</p>
<p>Other lifestyle factors were also found to be independently associated with weight change:</p>
<p>Physical activity is found to cause weight loss. But the following four factors  are causing weight gain:</p>
<p>- Alcohol use<br />
- Smoking<br />
- Sleep (weight gain with less than 6 or more than 8 hours of sleep)<br />
- Television watching</p>
